(Publisert 12.12.23) Det ble en trist dag da vi i formiddag fikk vite at visesangeren, komponisten og forfatteren Ole Paus var g\u00e5tt bort, 76 \u00e5r gammel. Han hadde v\u00e6rt syk siden han fikk hjerneslag i september.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ole Paus vokste opp i Oslo, Elverum og Trondheim som s\u00f8nn av generalen med samme navn. Etter milit\u00e6rtjenesten studerte han jus og filologi, og begynte i slutten av 1960-\u00e5rene \u00e5 opptre som visesanger i Oslo.<\/p>\n

Etter \u00e5 ha blitt oppdaget av Alf Cranner og Alf Pr\u00f8ysen, platedebuterte han i 1970 med Der ute \u2013 der inne<\/i>, som bestod av 18 viser om bymilj\u00f8et i Oslo.<\/p>\n

Han bokdebuterte \u00e5ret etter med diktsamlingen Tekster fra en trapp<\/i>. Hans tidlige album utviste inspirasjon fra visesang, jazz og rock.<\/p>\n

Han markerte seg med tekster med en skarp sosial brodd, og med en sterk interesse for utst\u00f8tte, marginaliserte og ensomme i samfunnet, \u00aballe oss som ikke klarte \u00e5 hamle opp med tilv\u00e6relsen\u00bb, som uttrykt i tidlige sanger som \u00abJacobs vise\u00bb, \u00abMerkelige Mira\u00bb, \u00abBlues for Pyttsan Jespersens p\u00e5r\u00f8rende\u00bb eller \u00abKajsas sang\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Han har b\u00e5de vist en lyrisk side og markert seg som bitende satiriker, ikke minst i en serie plater han kalte Paus-posten<\/i> med skillingsviser som kommenterte politiske og dagsaktuelle sp\u00f8rsm\u00e5l p\u00e5 ironiske og ofte injurierende m\u00e5ter.<\/p>\n

Gjennom samboeren Henny Moan ble han en venn av Jens Bj\u00f8rneboe i hans siste \u00e5r. Paus ble fra 1971 ogs\u00e5 venn og samarbeidspartner med Ketil Bj\u00f8rnstad, og deltok i Bj\u00f8rnstads musikalske prosjekt Leve Patagonia,<\/i> der han selv hadde rollen som Hans J\u00e6ger; blant deres andre samarbeidsprosjekter er platen Blues for Pyttsan Jespersens p\u00e5r\u00f8rende<\/i>.<\/p>\n

Paus har ogs\u00e5 skrevet tekst til sanger som \u00abInnerst i sjelen\u00bb og \u00abEngler i sneen\u00bb. Han har tolket salmer i samarbeid med Kirkelig Kulturverksted og fra 2000-\u00e5rene har han ofte samarbeidet med sin s\u00f8nn, komponisten Marcus Paus, blant annet om barneoperaen Heksene<\/i>.<\/p>\n

Paus drev fra 1975 ogs\u00e5 plateselskapet Zarepta og utgav sentrale verk i norsk jazz som Radka <\/a>Toneffs album. Han mottok Spellemannprisen 1976 i klassen visesang for albumet I anstendighetens navn<\/i> og har senere mottatt Spellemannprisens hederspris<\/a>, \u00c5rets spellemann og Anders Jahres Kulturpris, blitt innlemmet i Rockheim Hall of Fame og er kommand\u00f8r av St. Olavs Orden. Han har blitt omtalt som Norges \u00abnasjonaltrubadur\u00bb og sangen \u00abMitt lille land\u00bb som \u00abden nye nasjonalhymnen\u00bb.<\/sup><\/p>\n

Paus har til dels blitt oppfattet som en \u00abborgerlig anarkist\u00bb som sparket i alle retninger, men aldri nedover. Jon-Roar Bj\u00f8rkvold har kalt ham \u00abborgerskapets refser og utrettelige enfant terrible<\/i>\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Paus synger og skriver konsekvent p\u00e5 norsk og har ivret for at andre norske musikere skal g\u00e5 over fra engelsk til norsk. <\/sup>I forbindelse med 50-\u00e5rsjubileet for Ole Paus» debut i 2020 utkom boken Pauspoeten<\/i> med alle Paus» sangtekster.<\/p>\n
