Strand<\/p>\n<p>Dampskipstrafikken over Son startet i 1855, men det finnes dessverre lite historisk<br \/>\nmateriale fra virksomheten de f\u00f8rste \u00e5rene.<\/p>\n<p>Vi m\u00e5 anta at det ikke var noe stort omfang p\u00e5 trafikken, og at den interne trafikk i<br \/>\nfjorden var preget av b\u00e5de seil og damp i en overgangsperiode.<\/p>\n<p>Et vendepunkt rent profesjonelt var opprettelsen av rederiet A\/S Alpha i Moss 15.<br \/>\nseptember 1892.<\/p>\n<p>MOSS-CHRISTIANIA<br \/>\nRederiet betjente ruten Moss\u2013Christiania, med flere anl\u00f8p underveis, og fikk sj\u00f8satt<br \/>\nsin f\u00f8rste D\/S \u201dAlpha\u201d i 1883. Ordin\u00e6r ruteg\u00e5ende trafikk startet i juli samme \u00e5r.<\/p>\n<p>I likhet med de to neste \u201dAlpha\u201d-b\u00e5tene, og det senere s\u00f8sterskipet \u201dBeta\u201d, befordret<br \/>\nden f\u00f8rste b\u00e5de passasjerer og gods. Det var en damplekter i st\u00e5l, og kunne ta 30<br \/>\npassasjerer og cirka 60 tonn last.<\/p>\n<p>Den siste \u201dAlpha\u201d seilte i rute p\u00e5 Oslo helt til 1940, da den ble solgt til Oslo kommune<br \/>\netter 35 \u00e5rs tjeneste.<\/p>\n<p>HVA ELLA WIGER FORTALTE<br \/>\nJeg intervjuet en gang Ella Wiger fra Kongshavn p\u00e5 Nordre Jel\u00f8y. Hun fortalte at hun<br \/>\nvar en av de f\u00f8rste passasjerene som reiste med rederiets dampskip i Oslofjorden.<\/p>\n<p>I 1973, da jeg intervjuet henne som journalist Moss Dagblad, var hun 88 \u00e5r og en av deto eldste fastboende p\u00e5 Nordre Jel\u00f8y.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Jeg var seks \u00e5r gammel da jeg reiste med \u201ddampen\u201d for f\u00f8rste gang. S\u00e5 det m\u00e5 ha<br \/>\nv\u00e6rt i 1892, med D\/S \u201dAlpha\u201d, fortalte hun.<\/p>\n<p>Men det var nok \u00e5ret etter, for den b\u00e5ten ble ikke levert fra verftet i Fredrikstad f\u00f8r i<br \/>\nfebruar 1883, vet jeg n\u00e5.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Skipet ankret og tok opp passasjerer og gods til og fra Son ute p\u00e5 Skatet, (ved<br \/>\ngrunnestakene ytterst i Sonskilen, min anmerkn.) fortalte Ella Wiger.<\/p>\n<p>Slik ble Son betjent i rundt syv \u00e5r.
