Som selvstendig ladested fram til 1964, har Son sin bymessige fortid i det sm\u00e5. Etter at kommuneloven ble endret p\u00e5 1990-tallet, kan n\u00e5 kommuner med over 5000 innbyggere p\u00e5 visse betingelser selv bestemme bysp\u00f8rsm\u00e5let. 52 tettsteder har n\u00e5 bystatus, mot 46 etter ordningen som gjaldt f\u00f8r lovendringen.<\/span><\/em> (Foto: Sturla Strand)<\/p>\n

(Fra LM 09.09.12) (Republisert 19.03.22) (Reporter Svein-H. Strand) Ordf\u00f8rer John A. \u00d8dbehr (H) har bedt r\u00e5dmann Knut Haugestad utrede om «gamle Son» b\u00f8r f\u00e5 bystatus. Med r\u00e5dmannens spesialr\u00e5dgiver Roald Haugberg som saksbehandler, kommer det i stedet en utredning der det mer enn antydes at det f\u00f8rst og fremst er Vestby sentrum som b\u00f8r f\u00e5 bystatus, eventuelt. Alternativt b\u00e5de Vestby og Son. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Saken kommer n\u00e5 opp i formannskapet 17. september. R\u00e5dmannen \u00f8nsker imidlertid ingen realitetsbehandling av saken i formannskapet. Han vil f\u00f8rst ha en h\u00f8ringsrunde. Det som skal «h\u00f8res» er da sp\u00f8rsm\u00e5let om bystatus i Son eller<\/em> Vestby.<\/p>\n

\u2013 Det er h\u00f8yst usikkert om Son b\u00f8r gis bystatus framfor Vestby sentrum. Mange sp\u00f8rsm\u00e5l b\u00f8r vurderes n\u00e6rmere, konkluderes det med i saksframstillingen.<\/span><\/p>\n

VENTE NOEN \u00c5R?<\/strong>
\nEt alternativ i saksframlegget er \u00e5 vente noen \u00e5r til b\u00e5de Vestby sentrum og Son har «satt seg» gjennom fortetting og stedsutvikling.<\/p>\n

I sin vurdering trekker Haugberg fram at det han kaller «Sonsmilj\u00f8et» f\u00f8ler liten tilh\u00f8righet til Vestby, og at noe m\u00e5 gj\u00f8res med dette. <\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2013 Bystatus for Son vil neppe v\u00e6re noe som gir Soningene \u00f8kt tilh\u00f8righet til Vestby, snarere tvert imot, heter det. Og videre:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 Bystatus for Vestby kunne derimot v\u00e6re et tiltak som klargjorde Vestby sentrum som kommunesenteret for hele befolkningen.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2666 For \u00e5 underst\u00f8tte dette, nevnes alt som skal skje i stasjonsbyen av ulike utbygginger og «sterk fortetting i konsentrert bebyggelse for kontor, forretning og leiligheter.» Haugberg trekker ogs\u00e5 fram Vestbys «\u00f8kende betydning som kollektivknutepunkt etter hvert som Follobanen og Intercitytriangelet gjennomf\u00f8res».<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 FJERNE STEMPELET «PR\u00c6RIEN»<\/strong>
\nSaksbehandleren ser til og med for seg at det blir mulig \u00e5, sitat: «fjerne stempelet Pr\u00e6rien<\/em> som anvendes om Vestby sentrum». Da trengs det en «bevisst satsing p\u00e5 en fortettingslinje med bymessige kvaliteter.»<\/p>\n

Mange flere innbyggere i Vestby enn i Son med sine snevre grenser vil det ikke minst ogs\u00e5 bli, poengterer Haugberg gjennom talleksempler – alt etter hvor bygrensene skulle settes. <\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2666 Det hele startet alts\u00e5 med et begrunnet utspill fra ordf\u00f8reren der Vestby ikke var nevnt.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00d8dbehr begrunnet det kort og godt med at kommunen har som m\u00e5l \u00e5 utvikle Son som Oslofjordens hovedsete for summerturisme<\/p>\n
